ABOUT ME

Get to Know MrPhil
Thanks so much for checking out my website! My name is Phil - but for music lessons sake I go by MrPhil - and I’ve been teaching piano lessons since 2014. Formally, I have a Bachelor of Music (2008) and a Master of Arts in Worship Studies (2010) from Liberty University.
I have a huge passion for teaching students to engage with music, overcome fears and obstacles and gain confidence in their own skills and abilities. Whether you take lessons for a year, or ten- I want to instill a foundational understanding of what we are doing with the piano but also encourage creativity with new material.
Growing up, I remember quite vividly the coaches, teachers, and mentors who spent time with me, invested in my development, and cheered me on. I now find myself in a position where I am that person for my students, and it brings me great joy to walk into homes and see the excitement my students have for not only me but also for learning!
Music lessons are about having fun, and I’m a big kid who loves to have a good time, instilling a love for music with my students that goes beyond the mechanics of music and into the heart.
Let’s connect if you’re looking for piano lessons for your kids or yourself!

”We have had the pleasure of having Phil teach both of our children. Two entirely different instructional needs reached. Phil's positive feedback and fun approach to music makes him a true gift. One of our favourite opportunities that Phil offers is to meet the kids where they are at challenge them to build and dig deeper into there musical strengths.”

”Mr. Phil is an exceptional piano teacher. Along with presenting the fundamentals of music theory in a compelling way to my daughters (5 & 7 years old), he has instilled a love for music. He offers flexible lessons (in our case, he comes to our house) and tailors his teaching according to our girls’ needs. If you want your kids to fall in love with music, look no further - Mr. Phil is your guy!”
