Lessons Terms and Conditions

Should the parent request In-Home lessons, where availability exists in MrPhil’s schedule, an additional $10 mileage fee per scheduled lesson will be applied.
Should there be multiple lessons in the household on the same date, the fee will only be applied once.

For the 2024-2025 year, lessons will run September 9, 2025 until May 23, 2025 at an agreed upon time and day of the week.
Should lessons be scheduled where there is a Holiday, the option exists to cancel (no charge with advanced notice) or proceed with the regularly scheduled lesson.
- The term Holidays do not apply to school days where students have the day off for Teacher Conventions, PD Days, Teachers’ Days in Lieu, Board Approved Non-Instructional Days, and the like.
There will be no lessons scheduled December 22, 2024 - January 5, 2025.
Lessons during the week of March 22-31, 2025 are optional and will be discussed in early February prior to March’s invoice being sent out.
MrPhil is open to continuing lessons through the summer (June- August) should there be any interest by the student/parent.

For this 2024-2025 year, we will have an end of the year Recital where each student will showcase 1-2 songs they have been working on throughout the year.
After the recital we will enjoy a time together.

$25 / student to cover costs of venue, refreshments and games will be applied on the May 2025 Invoice.

Invoices for 2024/2025 will be sent 2 weeks before the start of the next month. Payments are expected to be received no later than 7 days/1 week after the invoice date prior to the start of the next month.
- Please note this is a change from 2023/2024 where Invoices were sent at the end of the month.
Payment Schedule:
- Monthly - 9 payments
- Bi-Yearly (September-December & January-May) - 2 payments
- Year in Full - 1 payment

Life happens; I get it! Need to cancel a lesson? No problem.
One (1) lesson may be canceled between September-December & January-May, with no penalty. No reimbursements for any subsequent lessons missed/canceled.
- If there are no missed lessons September-December, this exception will not be carried over to January-May.
If MrPhil arrives for an in-person lesson and there is no one home, he will wait 10-minutes and then leave. The lesson and mileage rates will not be reimbursed.

Should MrPhil need to cancel a lesson, at least 24 hours notice will be given to all students/parents affected.
Should a lesson be canceled by MrPhil, the lesson will either be rescheduled for later in the week or forfeited and a credit applied to the following month.
If more than 2 weeks of lessons in a month will be missed, prior notice of 30-days is required.
- No charges will be placed on the invoices for these lessons.
Should there be any extenuating circumstances which fall outside of these Terms, MrPhil is happy to discuss on a case by case basis.

Should a student/parent wish to terminate lessons, at least 30-days notice must be given.
A final invoice will be sent and payment requested as per payment expectations above.
No reimbursement will be given if less than 30-days notice is given.

Please be prepared to begin lessons shortly after MrPhil’s arrival to your home. Any delays in starting lessons will be subtracted from the lesson time; resulting in less teaching time.
The lesson area in your home needs to be in a space with few interruptions.
Please turn off any devices that might cause distractions (I.e., TV, radio, electronic games, etc.)
If your pets are disruptive, they should be removed from the lesson area.
For In-Home lessons, MrPhil may require access to a table and chairs for the theory part of the lesson. This needs to be in a quiet area with few interruptions.
A sharpened pencil (not pen) must be available for use during lessons.
A parent or responsible adult (18+) must be present in the home during lessons.

Please have your student arrive a few minutes early for their scheduled lesson.
Parents are welcome to stay during the lesson or are welcome to drop your student off and come back at the end of the lesson time.
There is a French Bulldog, TJ, in MrPhil’s home, who is super-friendly and loves people. However, upon request he can be removed from the teaching area.
Parking on the north side of the street, across from MrPhil’s home, is free.
- Please note parking on the south side of the street is a No Parking zone.

The above Terms & Conditions are subject to change with notice. However, any and all changes will be communicated at least 60-days in advance.
